Claudia holds a Diploma in meteorology from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where she focused on experimental aerosol physics in the Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences.
At the Paul Scherrer Institute she started in 2013 as a graduate student and CLOUD TRAIN fellow in the aerosol physics group at the Laboratory for Atmospheric Chemistry. In the CLOUD experiment at CERN her research focuses on cloud condensation activation, cloud formation and especially on aqueous phase chemistry. For this purpose she is working with Scanning Mobility Particle Sizers (SMPS), Condensation Particle Counters (CPC), Electrometers and an Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS). These instruments provide the size distributions, concentration and the chemical composition of aerosol particles acting as Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN).
