Dr. Frank Stratmann's major research fields are:
- the investigation of aerosol and cloud interactions, especially the activation, growth and freezing of multi-component aerosol particles
- the investigation of new particle formation in the H2SO4-water-system
- the modelling of aerosol microphysical processes in flow reactors.
Dr. Stratmann is one of the developers of the Fine Particle Model, a commercially available add-on module to the Computational Fluid Dynamics Code FLUENT. He and his group have been responsible for the layout, design, realization, and scientific application of the Leipzig Aerosol and Cloud Interaction Simulator (LACIS). His own and his co-workers' scientific activities are documented in more than 85 peer-reviewed publications.
